JOHN ARGYRIS came from Greece to the United States when he was 13 years old. His first job was in New York City as a delivery boy at the Bonwit Coffee Shop.  At the young age of 17, John became the owner of the Paramount Hotel Coffee Shop, and eventually moved on to purchase the Theatre Pub at the Lincoln  Center.  It was here that he met his wife Charlene, who was at  the time a young waitress working to pay her tuition at the Julliard School of Dance.

Five years later, they married, moved to Yardley and had 3 children: Jason, Athena, and Thalia. In 1987, John bought the Spring Street Cafe in Princeton.  After 6 years, he moved to a new location –  The Glass Cafe at the Oxford Valley Mall in Langhorne. Several years later he opened the Canal Street Grille, bringing his loyal following of customers with him.

Athena has been working with her parents since the age of 13, starting at their location in Langhorne. She has been very involved from day one at the Canal Street Grille, and to this day she is still involved with the family business in all aspects, including menu development.
